Clinics

Nurse Practitioner

We always strive to improve patient access to services within the Practice. We have qualified Nurse Practitioners who are accredited to prescribe for a range of minor ailments:

  • Upper Respiratory Tract Infections e.g. cough, wheeze / chest symptoms / fever
  • Urinary Tract Infections e.g. pain on passing urine, frequency in passing urine, smelly urine
  • Eyes - simple conjunctivitis / allergic eye reactions
  • Ears - earache / blocked ears / hearing changes
  • Contraception: including Emergency Contraception / sexual health advice
  • Asthma / COPD
  • Skin Complaints - eczema, psoriasis, rashes
  • Hay Fever
  • Minor Injuries - sprains, strains, lacerations, wounds, dressings

Many of these issues can be dealt with by the local pharmacy. When booking an appointment, you may be asked additional questions about your reason for calling, this is so that the Telephonist / Receptionist can determine the most appropriate clinician to see. If you do not want to say why you feel you need an appointment, this is of course your perogative. However, knowing why you are calling can help us direct you appropriately to the right person and help us prioritise your needs.

Travel Vaccinations

PLEASE NOTE ALL TRAVEL CLINIC SERVICES ARE NO LONGER DONE AT THE PRACTICE

To try and help manage the GP workload and make sure GP’s are using their skills in the best way the Scottish Government along with all of the GPs agreed that giving vaccination should be moved away from General Practice.

You may have already noticed that your GP no longer provides flu vaccination clinics, these are now run by health board staff, usually in different venues. In a similar way a large number of community pharmacists across Grampian are now providing a Travel Health Service.

For further information please see the NHS Grampian vaccination website.
