Registering with a GP practice

We need to ensure that all new patients reside within the Practice boundary area. We have a map in reception where you can check if you live within our Practice boundary. Please ask at Reception if you are uncertain. The Records Administrator will later check your registration application to ensure that you are living in the Practice boundary area before processing your application to register. We provide GP services to the population of Westhill and some of the surrounding area.

To register permanently, you’ll need to complete a registration form and any of the additional forms listed below which apply to your household. Each adult must present in person with photographic ID and proof of address along with the appropriate forms. Failure to do so is likely to result in a delay to the registration process.

Skene Medical Group does not discriminate on the grounds of: race, social class, religion, sexual orientation or appearance, disability or medical condition.

Anybody in Scotland can access primary care services at a GP practice without charge.

Registering as a Temporary Resident

Our temporary resident service is only available if you become acutely unwell while in our catchment area and your home practice is not in close proximity. We do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although we do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment if it is deemed appropriate.

To register as a temporary patient simply contact Skene Medical Group on 01224 849400 or download a Temporary Resident Registration Form and bring this, together with photographic ID, to the Practice Reception.

Registered GP

From 1st April 2015, practices are required to allocate all patients (including children) with a named registered GP.

The registered GP is responsible for the coordination and delivery of all appropriate services, where required based on clinical judgement, to each of their patients.

  • Patients do not need to see their registered GP when they book an appointment with the practice.
  • Patients are entitled to choose to see any GP or nurse in the practice if they are available.
