Data protection

Your health problems are documented in your electronic medical records that are held on our computerised clinical system. We are registered under the Data Protection Act 1998 and comply with the Access to Medical Records Act 1990. Your health record is held securely by the Practice and only those professionals and support staff directly involved in your care have access to your record.

Circumstances where identifiable information about you will be shared with others:

  • To provide further medical treatment for you e.g. from District Nurses and hospital services.
  • To help you get other services e.g. from the Social Work department. This requires your consent.
  • When we have a duty to others e.g. in child protection cases anonymised patient information will also be used at local and national level to help the Health Board and Government plan services e.g. for diabetic care.

Other Third Parties may only have access to your records with your express permission e.g. solicitors, Insurance Companies.

Please ensure that we always have up to date personal information about you with your best contact details

Identifiable information about you will only be shared with others to provide further medical treatment for you or to help you access help from other services. Anonymised patient information will also be used at local and national level to help NHS Grampian and NHS Scotland plan and provide appropriate services. If you do not want anonymised information shared about you, please let us know.
