GP Practices have remained open throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic. Urgent medical problems are still dealt with by GPs, nurses and other staff. As we move into a phased recovery, most medical services will start to come back on stream, but this does not, and cannot mean a return to normal. Just as the supermarket, the coffee shop and the office is a very different place, so too is the GP surgery. Much of what you may want to contact the surgery about can be dealt with without attending here, so people across the country are being asked to phone first. With telephone or video calls arranged, and only those who need face to face contact are asked to attend to keep you and others safe with as few people as possible in the building. Because it's likely that those attending will have health problems, it's even more important to ensure safety than it is in the supermarket or office so staff will wear PPE and you will be asked to wear a face covering/mask where possible. Contact time will be kept to a minimum for everyone's safety but despite this each appointment needs to be longer, and flow through the building will be controlled, and waiting rooms will seem very different. The way they are delivered will stay changed for a very long time to come. We all need to feel safe when we use the NHS and need our NHS staff to be safe.
We ask you DO NOT ATTEND THE SURGERY unless you have specifically been instructed to do so by a clinician.
Call us on 01224 849400 if you feel you need to see a GP. An initial telephone consultation will be arranged but please be patient if you can’t get through the first time. As you can appreciate we are experiencing a very high volume of calls.
If you require to order medication please call our dedicated repeat line on 01224 849393 or via our Vision Online service. Requests to order medication before it is due or requests for double quantity will not be processed. We will send your prescription directly to your local Pharmacy of choice. Please allow additional time to collect prescriptions as all Pharmacies are extremely busy.
To help protect patients and our staff we will shortly be introducing our new online services called eConsult available 24:7, via our website. eConsult is a service for patients wanting to contact the GP and you will get a response within 48 working hours. More details will follow shortly.
